Adele Travisano
Artist and Medford Resident
I am an eighty year old artist, who studied painting with George McNeil at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. McNeil was a student of the German Expressionist, Hans Hofmann. They were both active in the mid 20th century school of Abstract Expressionism. I consider myself a disciple.
Medford has been my home since 1981. I was happy to have a good sized yard to grow a flower garden. My husband and I raised our two children here. We live only a few short blocks from the Mystic River. There were many walks with the children down at the Mystic, noting the flora and fauna, and enjoying our proximity to nature. Many of my paintings are about the nature that I experienced in Medford, my own garden, neighbor's gardens, and the Mystic River.
