JustFlix is a weekly program where participants learn the art of modern storytelling using cell phones with a focus on their experiences of justice and community.
Participants create short 3-5 minutes films using storytelling, cellular phones, and video editing software. The films reflect on the interplay between the participant's experiences, their ideas of justice, and the strengths of their community.
JustFlix is designed to meet young people where they live; both literally in their homes, as well as on their cell phones. It provides an opportunity for exploration on the assets in their lives and for them to translate what they have learned into visual stories. The approach incorporates elements of formal narrative and formal film-making while emphasizing the agency of individuals of all ages in identifying what is important and how to convey that importance.
